Erik Pinksterblom steps into the painting Wollewei, brought to life, where he experiences wonderful adventures with insects that have surprisingly human traits. Will he manage to return safely to the human world?
Above Erik’s bed hangs the painting Wollewei. Erik longs to live inside the painting. And one night, it happens. Suddenly, Erik becomes very small and finds himself inside the painting. Now as small as a fly, he believes he’s drifting through enormous plants with gigantic stems and leaves. Everywhere he goes, he helps the insects. He dances the tango with the snobby wasps, makes music with the bumblebees, sleeps in the snail’s hotel, and meets a very oddly wrapped-up caterpillar… But Erik also feels homesick. Will he be able to find his way back home?
This performance is inspired by the book Erik of het kleine insectenboek, written by Godfried Bomans.
In this danced performance with live music, you will get to know the insects and their world, in which they (survive). This world is not so different from ours, with its class differences, relationships, friendships, and transformations. In short, this knowledge of insects is also knowledge of people.
DeDae is a young eurythmy dance company made up of six talented dancers. Together with three musicians, who both speak and play music, an impressive ensemble is created.
